It's based on TrueSight data for matches Dotabuff has parsed, and they've made sure that it samples a broad spectrum of matches with adequate volume to be statistically significant with a very small margin of error. Higher skill brackets are slightly over-represented. Side note: soon they'll offer the ability to filter this data by additional dimensions like skill bracket, region, etc.

Property Type Description
Lane LaneType Identifies the lane used.
Presence Float Percentage of matches where the hero has been played on the represented lane compared to all its matches.
WinRate Float Percentage of wins of a hero played in the represented lane.
KdaRatio Float Kills, death and assist ratio of a particular hero in the represented lane. (Kills + Assists)/Deaths
Gpm Float Average gold per minute earned by the hero in the represented lane.
Xpm Float Average experience per minute earned by the hero in the represented lane.
