KubernetesMigration
Kubernetes is open source software for deploying, managing, and scaling containerized applications.
Upgrading CoCalc infrastructure to Kubernetes will allow us to offer our users:
- greater security
- improved platform robustness
- rapid and seamless scaling of computing capacity
- more efficient use of resources
- fault isolation
- shorter time to market for future enhancements
- The upgrade will start today, August 25, at about noon Pacific Time (UTC-7). This may entail up to an hour of downtime.

- Linux 15.10 (Wily Werewolf) → 16.04.3 LTS (Xenial Xerus)
- Sage 7.6 → 8.0
- Python 2: 2.7.10 → 2.7.12
- Python 3: 3.4.3 → 3.5.2
- R 3.3.2 → 3.4.1 (greatly expanded collection of pre-installed R packages!)
- Julia 0.5.0 → 0.6.0
- GNU Octave 4.0.0 → 4.2.1
- Scala 2.11.8 → 2.11.11
- Go 1.5.1 → 1.8.3
