A new contributor/maintainer harness tunes recall scoring against a **clone of real data** instead of guesswork — generate a test set with known answers, then measure Recall@K / MRR / NDCG with a statistical comparison to tell a real improvement from noise. It is not required to run AutoMem. See [Hybrid Search](/docs/core-concepts/hybrid-search/) and [Research & Motivation](/docs/research/).

## AutoMem server 0.16.1 (patch)

A stability follow-up to the 0.16.0 ranking overhaul:

- **Confirmed graph writes** — memory-graph writes now require confirmation rather than assuming success.
- **Placeholder-fallback rejection** — the API rejects problematic placeholder values instead of silently accepting them.
- **Vector candidate fetching optimized** and context-tag candidate retrieval widened, with metadata sidecar budgets preserved. See [Recall Tuning](/docs/core-concepts/recall-tuning/).
- **`MetaPattern` artifacts excluded from drift accounting** — consolidation summaries no longer trigger false positives in `/admin/sync` drift checks. See [Recall Tuning](/docs/core-concepts/recall-tuning/#internal-artifact-types).
