I'm sorry for getting back to you on this so late.
I really appreciate all the effort that went into this.
Before I merge this, I would really like to refactor this a bit and expand the test coverage.
Currently I cannot find the time for that, but rest assured I will take care of this eventually.
Once I've done all of this I'll make sure to ping you.

I'm digging further into using virtual DOM for my SVG-based modules and plan to create a virtual-DOM-based transformation pipeline just like what Browserify & Babel are for JS. For this, parsing & stringifying SVG are crucial.

Let me know if I can help you with this. Although it would take a while to get into the quite large & scattered ecosystem of Matt-Esch/virtual-dom and friends, I'd be happy to help.

If a better way to handle SVG has come up in the last two years, let me know.
