Zephyr Project Meetups/Events: Available Support

The Zephyr community is growing quickly, including our meetups across the globe. This page serves as a guide for those who are interested in starting, or presenting Zephyr at a local meetup. We’ll work to build this out with the community over time. We strongly encourage and support the community in presenting Zephyr.

To alert us to an upcoming Zephyr meetup you are planning/would like to plan -- so that we may help promote your event, as well as offer resources such as event registration and event sponsorship (funding), please complete the following form: https://forms.gle/t5LFGSw6ejSmevNz9

✅ Items for Consideration / Checklist for hosting a successful Meetup style event

  1. Identify other Members/Community Members interested in helping to organize the event (co-organizers) // Discord can be a good resource for this
  2. Identify a venue to host // Finding a company to host at their office can save on budget (oftentimes no cost)
  3. Determine an event date // 3-4+ weeks out is recommended, to allow time to assemble website, agenda and promote
  4. Build agenda // does not need to be 100% final when you launch registration site. Try to keep presentations short
  5. Feed attendees // Don't forget to order food/drink. See Project Sponsorship below for available funding.
  6. Promote! // see Marketing & Promotion below
  7. Take photos at the event // A post-event Blog can help showcase Zephyr momentum in the region.

💻 Event Registration

  • For Zephyr Members looking to organize a Meetup style event, we are able to assist in providing a simple registration site

🌐 Where to Present

  • While the community is certainly welcome to start up new Zephyr meetup groups, consider leveraging existing IoT / Open Source Meetups

💸 Zephyr Project Sponsorship

  • The Zephyr Project will fund/sponsor the talk in which Zephyr is scheduled to be presented
  • Up to $250 for F&B (and/or stickers), once per Meetup group, per quarter
  • Zephyr stickers can be ordered from the Zephyr Store. Region specific stores: https://www.zephyrproject.org/store/.
  • Submit receipt/s to meetups@zephyrproject.org, along with URL of the Meetup event (showing Zephyr as a featured topic), and completed reimbursement form (Excel, PDF)

📣 Meetup Marketing & Promotion

  • Let us help drive traffic to your event! Email pr@zephyrproject.org once Meetup has been scheduled
  • Announce your Meetup in the Zephyr Events category of the Project Discord (http://chat.zephyrproject.org/)
  • Post-event, please consider doing a blog about the event
