Was looking for this in the migration guides, but couldn't find it. They seem to intentionally not document middleware.js: storybookjs/storybook#15300
But these changes do seem to fix the issue!

This change allows us to upgrade Wagtail to Storybook v8 and has been tested against the Wagtail main branch - see wagtail/wagtail#12540
