Use u2x mode when meets 8M MCUs. And it works perfectly.

Are you using 8Mhz crsytal actually, or prescaler(1/2) with 16Mzh?
How much can you save battery comparing with 16Mhz?

Sure, I have a physical one,and tested on it. Actually, I use it to build my usb to usb bluetooth version. Don't measure its current yet. So I don't know how it will save the battery life. Sorry.
