- About Telegram
Telegram's web client at web.telegram.org plays videos inline within chat threads, but it does not expose a native download button for most media. Videos shared in channels and groups play inside the browser viewport, and while the mobile and desktop apps sometimes allow saving media to a device, the web client offers no equivalent file-save workflow. Right-clicking the video element typically yields no usable download link because the media is streamed through a protected delivery mechanism.
Telegram Video Downloader is being designed to operate directly inside the browser tab where the web client runs. The extension will identify video elements as they play, resolve the underlying media source, and give you a one-click path to save the file as a standard MP4 on your local machine. No copy-pasting URLs into external converters, no screen recording, and no desktop app required.

Will it work with the Telegram desktop app? No. This extension is built for the Telegram web client at web.telegram.org in the browser, not the desktop or mobile applications.
What video quality will it support? Quality will depend on the resolution of the original video uploaded to Telegram. The extension will attempt to capture the highest quality version available through the web client.
Will it preserve the original filename? The plan is to generate descriptive filenames based on the channel or group name, message date, and any available caption text so files are easy to identify after saving.
Is it free? Pricing details will be announced closer to launch. SERP extensions typically include a free trial period.
Can I download multiple videos at once? Batch downloading from channels with several video posts is a planned feature, though the exact workflow will depend on browser performance and Telegram's web client behavior.

Telegram is a cloud-based messaging platform used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide. It supports one-on-one chats, large group conversations, and broadcast channels, all of which can include shared videos, photos, documents, and other media. The Telegram web client at web.telegram.org provides browser-based access to these features and plays videos inline, but it does not offer a built-in option to save video files locally. Telegram Video Downloader is being built to fill that gap for users who want a simple, browser-native way to keep local copies of videos they encounter in the web client.
