Why Podia Downloader

Podia is an all-in-one platform where creators sell online courses, digital downloads, memberships, and webinars. Courses on Podia often contain video lessons hosted through embedded players, but the platform does not offer a native option to download those videos as local files. If your internet connection drops or your subscription lapses, access to the material disappears along with it.

Podia Downloader is being built to operate inside the browser alongside Podia's course player. The extension will detect video playback within a course lesson, let you choose which videos to save, and produce MP4 files stored on your own machine rather than locked behind a platform login.

Planned Features

  • Video detection from Podia course lesson pages during active playback
  • Single-lesson and multi-lesson export support across entire course modules
  • Resolution selection based on the quality tiers the Podia player exposes
  • Metadata tagging with course name, lesson title, and section order where available
  • Download queue for stacking multiple lessons without waiting between each one
  • Progress tracking so you can see completion status for each queued video
  • Browser-native workflow with no external software dependencies
  • Cross-browser compatibility targeting Chrome, Edge, Brave, and Firefox

How It Will Work

  1. Install the extension once it is released.
  2. Open the Podia platform in your browser and log in to your account.
  3. Navigate to the course and select the lesson you want to save.
  4. Begin playback so the browser loads the video stream.
  5. Open the extension popup to see the detected video source.
  6. Select the lesson or group of lessons you want to export.
  7. Choose your preferred resolution if multiple options are available.
  8. Start the download and save the MP4 file to your local machine.

Expected Formats

  • Input: Podia embedded video streams (typically HLS or MP4 segments via the platform's player)
  • Output: MP4 video files with original audio

Exported files will be saved as standard MP4 containers playable in VLC, Windows Media Player, QuickTime, mobile devices, and most video editing applications.

Who It's For

  • Online learners who want offline access to courses they have purchased on Podia
  • Educators reviewing their own published course material without needing a live connection
  • Students in areas with unreliable internet who need local copies for uninterrupted study
  • Professionals archiving training content for reference during travel or fieldwork
  • Course buyers who prefer organizing video lessons in their own file system

Use Cases We're Building For

  • Save an entire Podia course module before a long flight or commute
  • Archive purchased course videos so they remain accessible even if the creator removes them
  • Build a local reference library of training lessons organized by topic
  • Review course content in a video editor for note-taking or clip extraction
  • Keep backup copies of courses you paid for outside the Podia platform

About Podia

Podia is an all-in-one creator platform that enables individuals and businesses to sell online courses, digital downloads, coaching sessions, memberships, and webinars. Courses on Podia frequently include video lessons delivered through the platform's built-in player, but there is no native feature for downloading those videos as local files. Podia Downloader is being built to fill that gap for learners and creators who want permanent, offline copies of video content they have purchased or produced.
