Mosh for Chrome v0.2.5.27
Minor bugfixes: Handle MOSH IP response from server, and slightly improve stderr handling.
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.5.26
This is a small release, with two bugfixes:
- Support for SSH keys without passphrases
- Minor race condition fixed - If you've ever noticed it just kind of hang until you press another key, this might fix that.
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.4.25
This release has some really important bugfixes:
- Unicode display support for Mac and Windows - Due to a peculiar variance in the NaCl environment among platforms, Unicode display hasn't been working on Mac and Windows. This affects even things you might not necessarily depend on Unicode, such as man pages and tmux.
- Unicode input support - No platforms allowed typing or pasting non-US-ASCII characters until now.
- Clipboard copy fixed - On Chrome 34 (current beta), copying text was broken. Upgrading to the latest hterm fixed it.
Both Unicode bugs have been long-standing problems with Mosh for Chrome, so I'm very happy to have them finally resolved.
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.3.24
This release has one new feature, an important bug fix, and a lot of internal cleanup. It is also the first release where folks are likely to see the new update notification.
First, the new shiny:
- SSH Fingerprints - Mosh now records the SSH fingerprints of the servers to which you connect, and validates them, just like the known_hosts file for OpenSSH. It synchronizes the fingerprints across browsers, which should mean you should only see a fingerprint prompt once per server, period.
Now for the bug:
- Crash on paste - If the clipboard was empty, and a paste was attempted (which only takes a right-click), the module would crash. This should be all better now.
For details on the internal cleanup, see the commit history.
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.2.23
Bugfix release (issue #38).
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.2.22
This is a minor release with one major change worth pointing out:
- Update notifications - If you're running Mosh for a long time at a stretch (and you probably are), you're not getting software updates. Notifications have been added to let you know that you should close your Mosh windows to pick up the new update. You should see exactly one desktop notification for each new update, and it should only show if you're currently running Mosh. If this turns out to be wrong, I'll fix it -- I don't want this to be annoying. There is also a blurb at the top of the session setup window.
There are a couple of other items that some will enjoy:
- Faster pasting / better escape sequence handling - If you've ever noticed that pasting into the window was sluggish, you'll now notice it isn't anymore. The sluggishness may have also caused problems with interpretation escape sequences on janky connections (e.g., arrow keys).
- More tries at your password - If you don't get your password right on the first try, you'll get two more tries before Mosh quits on you.
This release also includes some minor bug fixes and cleanups; see the commit history for more.
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.1.21
This release mostly cleans up some UI issues.
- Cleaner way to start a new session - On Chrome OS, just right-click the icon in the "shelf" (usually on the bottom) and select "New session". On other platforms, just launch the app again. No more lingering "session setup" window; it now closes itself when you connect.
- Quick window closing - Once a session has exited, the window can be closed simply by pressing "x".
- Progress bar while loading module - It can take a long time to load the Mosh PNaCl module for the first time after an update. Now there's a progress bar to give you an idea how long you have to wait.
This version also has some internal cleanups, including using the latest version of hterm (v1.27).
Mosh for Chrome v0.2.0.20
This release comes with a cleaner UI, which includes:
- Multiple Simultaneous Sessions - Just bring back up the "session setup" window (the first window when you launch), which will minimize when you connect. The UI isn't perfect: be careful not to close the "setup" window, or you may have trouble getting it back without closing all your "session" windows. I envision a much better UI to come, but this will do for now.
- Saved Window Positions - The UI will remember individual window positions, based on the user/host/port triplet to which you're connecting.
This release also fixes a few bugs, including making ssh connections fail more quickly and with meaningful error messages, while also tolerating sluggish networks by extending the connection timeout from 10s to 30s.
Since this release removed the changelog in favor of a link to the GitHub releases page, the old changelog is included below for posterity.
- 0.1.2.19 (2014-01-24) - Fix bug connecting to older versions of mosh-server. Also remove useless scrollbar.
- 0.1.1.17 (2014-01-22) - Improve how mosh-server is started when using ssh session setup: shows 256 colors, has a fallback locale, and binds to interface used for ssh session. Also fix bug with using backspace to correct password/passphrase.
- 0.1.0.16 (2014-01-20) - First official release. Now works with all architectures, thanks to PNaCl.
- 0.0.0.15 (2014-01-17) - Fix regression with reconnecting after network hiccup.
- 0.0.0.14 (2014-01-17) - Add keyboard-interactive and key ssh auth.
- 0.0.0.13 (2014-01-15) - Add ssh-based connection setup.
- 0.0.0.12 (2014-01-05) - Fix Unicode rendering (input still lacking). This also fixes the bad interaction with tmux, as tmux uses Unicode characters for drawing borders. This was accomplished by building against newlib instead of glibc (long story). This could be the source of new and exciting bugs. But besides fixing Unicode support, this paves the way for ARM support, and ultimately using Portable Native Client (PNaCl), which allows a single build to run on any architecture. (PNaCl doesn't yet support C++ exceptions, but when it does, we're ready.)
- 0.0.0.11 (2013-12-23) - Improved error reporting. stderr now goes to the terminal (just like the real mosh-client), and also the Javascript console. If in doubt, check the Javascript console, as the terminal may obscure errors.
- 0.0.0.10 (2013-12-16) - Now permits hostnames as well as IP addresses. Crypto randomness is now actually random. Tested successfully on Linux and MacOS.
- 0.0.0.9 (2013-12-15) - Fix for x86_32 failing to start. Tested on Linux; not yet tested on MacOS.
- 0.0.0.8 (2013-12-02) - Build against pepper_31 and newer naclports. Eliminate spurious new browser tab on connect.
- 0.0.0.7 (2013-11-30) - Add support for i686 (needed for 32-bit Chrome, e.g. MacOS).
- 0.0.0.6 (2013-10-16) - Fix bug in readfrom() emulation which caused Mosh to show a crypto error, rendering the session useless.
- 0.0.0.5 (2013-10-15) - Clean up initial screen and add this info.
- 0.0.0.4 (2013-10-14) - Big code refactor.
- 0.0.0.3 (2013-10-08) - Fix bug in packet handling code which caused perceived sluggishness.
- 0.0.0.2 (2013-10-08) - Add application icon.
- 0.0.0.1 (2013-10-07) - Initial working version.
