Final vendoring updates for 25.1. I won't merge this immediately, as I plan on keeping it up to date as the release approaches.

I almost forgot that we include vendor.txt in the contributing documentation.

I'll also be quite happy when we can finally drop typing-extensions but IIRC we'd need to require Python 3.12+ for that... :(
