Problem: "CC1101 NOT FOUND"

Symptom: The device shows CC1101 NOT FOUND on boot or when opening the RF menu.

Cause: Bruce firmware v1.12 or v1.13 is installed. These versions are missing the SPI and power patches required for CC1101 recognition.

Fix:

  1. Flash Bruce v1.14 or later at bruce.computer/flasher.
  2. Reboot the device.
  3. Re-open the RF menu — the error should be gone.

Problem: CC1101 Not Recognized After Flashing v1.14

Symptom: You flashed v1.14+ but CC1101 still shows as not found.

Possible Causes & Fixes:

Cause Fix
RF board not fully seated Power off, remove the board, re-seat firmly, power on
Wrong firmware selected Confirm you flashed the StickS3 variant, not Cardputer or other
Cached bad flash Try flashing again using the web flasher's "Erase + Flash" option
CC1101 not yet configured Go to Menu → RF → CONFIG → RF MODULE → CC1101 (legacy)

Problem: nRF24 Not Responding

Symptom: nRF24-based features produce no results or show errors.

Fix:

  • The nRF24 requires no manual configuration. Simply activate the nRF24 module in the Bruce menu.
  • Ensure the RF board is fully and securely seated.
  • Confirm Bruce v1.14+ is installed.

Problem: Unstable RF Signal / Dropped Transmissions

Symptom: Transmissions are intermittent, signals are weak, or performance degrades over time.

Possible Causes & Fixes:

Cause Fix
Loose board connection Remove and re-seat the RF PACK S3
Low battery Charge the M5Stack StickS3 fully before testing
Environmental interference Test in a different location away from dense 2.4GHz traffic

The RF PACK S3 includes a ME6211 500mA LDO and a 100µF Tantalum capacitor specifically to prevent voltage sag during transmission. If instability persists, the board connection is the most likely culprit.

Problem: Device Won't Boot After Attaching RF Board

Symptom: StickS3 fails to boot or freezes after the RF PACK S3 is attached.

Fix:

  1. Remove the RF board and confirm the StickS3 boots normally.
  2. Check the expansion connector for bent pins or debris.
  3. Re-seat the RF board carefully with the device powered off.
  4. If the issue persists after re-seating, contact PINGEQUA support.

Problem: Web Flasher Won't Connect

Symptom: The browser-based flasher at bruce.computer/flasher cannot detect the device.

Fix:

  • Use Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge — the Web Serial API is not supported in Firefox or Safari.
  • Try a different USB-C cable (data-capable, not charge-only).
  • On macOS/Linux, you may need to grant serial port permissions. Check System Settings or run ls /dev/tty.* to confirm the device appears.
  • Hold the boot button on the StickS3 while connecting USB to enter download mode.
