Understanding and comparing alternative patterns of bacterial and viral evolution, or of cancerous cells and tumor progression trees, is crucial to determine and evaluate the origin and resistance patterns. In this project we address the efficient comparison and evaluation of phylogenetic trees and networks. We will apply an algorithm engineering based approach focusing on large scale data analyses.
Keywords: phylogenetic trees and networks, succinct representations, comparison measures, algorithm engineering.
