The item would function similarly to the item it takes inspiration from. However, in this game I feel a small change is needed. Instead of being a single item that completely negates stat reduction, I think this could instead be a stacking item that has a chance to negate a stat reduction. Something like 10% per stack up to maybe 50%, or 20% up to 100% if we really want to make it crazy.

For more options, this also would not only work on enemy stat reduction attempts, but your own as well such as Close Combat/Shell Smash/etc thereby opening up more options to Pokemon who use these moves consistently.

How would you do the percentage thing?

Arent the stat increases/decreases not 6 stages that go to a max of 25% of the original damage (when lowered) or 400% of the orignal damage when raised.

Lets assume we go from +0 to -1.

Normally it would be a 33,3% drop.

So with one stack you would make it only a 33% drop instead?

And the steps between the next levels are even smaller. So this would really be only worth if it starts at 20% and goes to 100%

The idea is that it's a percentage chance to negate the stat change. It doesn't modify anything about what -1 or -6 means, it applies before that system even starts. So instead of being -1 you'd be +0 if it triggers.

This makes way more sense!

Then maybe a 10% to 50% would be more balanced. Or maybe a 10% to 100% but in 10% steps

Nah definitely cap it at 50% i think. I also like the combo with close combat, aswell as stat increasing moves like flame wheel etc. makes it rly interesting to use
