Overview

Blocking-middleware is a web service that co-ordinates testing of URLs for evidence of blocking by parental control systems or court orders. URLs for testing can be submitted, and results from previously-run tests can be retrieved from the API.

Tests are carried out on multiple probes connected to different fixed-line and mobile internet providers. The probes are pre-programmed with patterns to identify in tested page responses, giving a "blocked" or "OK" result.
