The goal of MRDBID.com is to provide personal storage of specimens including many possible characters.

In order to do so, the set of characters must be public and inclusive of every character that could be used in a specimen. A list of characters that are currently supported by MRDBID.com will be accessible to all for review.

Qualified users can add characters with reference documentation.

At some point an "accepted" list of characters will be resolved. Existing characters, or terms representing characters will exclude themselves over time as users migrate to the more descriptive and accurate characters.

Not necessarily a newer character.

Comparison of specimens using database tables will allow for some standardization of comparison methods.

That is the goal anyway.
