improve output for exectest failures in usertests #412

child closes stdout so send messages to stderr. Also log bad status returned to wait in case echo itself fails.

In exectest, the child closed stdout so attempts to log what fails disappear, and the only output is FAILED.
This changes so error messages now goes to stderr. An additional message is output after wait in case echo itself fails.
