I'm Marks Polakovs (they/them)
I'm a Specialist DevOps Engineer at @Darktrace. I spend my days helping the engineering teams at Darktrace deliver software to our customers, whether that involves helping optimise CI pipelines, troubleshooting complex customer issues, planning and executing data store migrations, advising developers on making their projects work better in a cloud-native environment, or debugging kernel-level problems - or sometimes all of the above on the same day.
I graduated with a first-class Master of Engineering degree in Computer Science from the University of York. While there, I spent a lot of time (arguably too much) doing software development and systems administration for the Computing Teams at @UniversityRadioYork, the UK's oldest independent legal radio station, and @ystv, the UK's oldest student television station, as well as @YorkVision.
- 🛠 I'm an experienced Linux administrator, CI/CD pipeline builder, and network engineer. I work with all three major cloud providers, as well as Kubernetes, on a daily basis. I'm also an experienced back-end and full-stack web developer, with most of my experience with React on the front-end and Node.js and Go on the back-end.
- ⌨️ Languages incl. Javascript (Typescript), Go, Python, PHP, Bash, YAML, and just enough C/C++ to be dangerous. Currently on-and-off learning Rust.
Send me an email to the address on my GitHub profile. Please include the name of the capital of Slovenia somewhere in your email, so I know you're not a robot and give you my full, undivided attention. (Or you are a robot that's achieved sentience, in which case I'm even more interested.)
