Archland

Welcome, and thank you for checking out this project!

This guide is meant to help you get started with transitioning from Windows — or if you're simply curious and want to try out the Arch Linux distribution.

When I was new to Arch Linux (or Linux in general), I spent countless hours, days and nights, trying to configure and fix everything. I was constantly looking things up, jumping between forums, wikis, scattered guides, and sometimes struggling to understand man pages — just to piece everything together and get the setup I had in mind.

That’s when a few questions came to mind:

“What if there was a guide that could walk me through the transition; from installing Arch to getting a fully working system?”
“What if something could help me understand my system in a much simpler way?”

And so, I’m writing this guide to help myself (and future self) to improve my skills further. And hopefully, to help someone else have a smoother start.

Ready to begin?

Check out the Main Menu to see all the sections you can explore.
The guide is separated into parts so you can freely choose where to start or which topics you'd like to follow.

Note: I highly recommend starting with "Introduction for Windows users" section. There are two main paths when transitioning from Windows, and this section will help you decide which one is best for you.

⚠️ Disclaimer

This guide is based on my personal experience and current knowledge of Arch Linux as of writing. Linux systems may behave differently depending on your hardware, configuration choices, and software versions.

I am not responsible for any data loss, hardware issues, or system instability that may result from following this guide. Please read carefully, double-check commands, and always back up important data before proceeding.

🎯 Who This Guide Is For

This guide is written with the following people in mind:

  • 🪟 Windows users who are curious about Arch Linux or ready to move on from it
  • 💻 People who want a lightweight, clean, and minimal system they have full control of
  • 🧩 Users interested in trying the Hyprland Tiling Window Manager
    • Hyprland will be one of the main focuses of this guide

That said — don't be afraid to experiment. I'll provide as much documentation and explanation as I can. Just stay curious and be informed while doing so.

As you continue using Arch (and Linux in general), you'll naturally begin to tweak things, experiment more, and make the system truly your own.
