Samsung Galaxy S25 / S26 / Z Fold 8 Debloat Script (OneUI 8, 8.5 and 9)

Comprehensive ADB debloat toolkit for the Samsung Galaxy S25 series (OneUI 8), the Galaxy S26 Ultra (OneUI 8.5, Android 16), and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 (OneUI 9, Android 17). It lets you remove bloatware and unnecessary apps to improve performance, battery life, and privacy.

Quick Start (Easiest Method)

The fastest way to debloat your Galaxy S25, S26 or Z Fold 8 - no computer needed!

1. Install apps on phone:

   • Shizuku - Provides ADB permissions. On Android 16 / 17 (OneUI 8, 8.5, 9) use the maintained thedjchi fork (v13.7.0 adds Android 17 support). The original RikkaApps Shizuku has not been updated since May 2025
   • Canta - Debloat GUI app (F-Droid, IzzyOnDroid, GitHub or Play Store)

2. Start Shizuku on the phone (Wi-Fi required):

   • Enable Developer options (Settings > About phone > Software information > tap Build number 7x)
   • Developer options > enable Wireless debugging
   • Shizuku > Start via Wireless debugging > Pairing, then pair with the code from Wireless debugging > Pair device with pairing code
   • Tap Start in Shizuku

3. Copy a preset:

   • Open conservative.json on your phone, tap Raw, and copy all of the text
   • Or browse all Canta presets

4. Import and debloat:

   • Canta > Presets > Import preset > Clipboard
   • Tap Apply Preset, review the selection, then uninstall
   • Reboot phone

Canta has no file import, so presets are copied and pasted. No phone setup at all? Canta Web runs in a Chromium browser over USB.

Choose the method that works best for you:

On-Device (No Computer Needed)

• Shizuku + Canta - Easy GUI app (Shizuku starts on the phone via Wireless Debugging)
• Shizuku + App Manager - More advanced on-device option
• Termux - Run scripts directly on your phone

From Computer (Traditional ADB)

• Canta Web (Chromium browser over USB, nothing to install)
• Individual commands
• Batch commands
• ADB AppControl GUI tool

Prerequisites (For ADB Method)

If using the traditional ADB method from computer:

1. USB Debugging Enabled on your Galaxy device

   • Settings > About phone > Tap "Build number" 7 times
   • Settings > Developer options > Enable "USB debugging"

2. ADB (Android Debug Bridge) installed on your computer

   • Download from: https://developer.android.com/tools/releases/platform-tools
   • Extract to a folder and add to PATH (optional)

3. USB Cable to connect phone to computer

4. Samsung USB Drivers (Windows only)

   • Download from Samsung's website

Important Warnings

CRITICAL - DO NOT REMOVE:

• Samsung Keyboard (com.samsung.android.honeyboard) - Causes bootloop with DEX
• Knox Components - May lock your device
• Samsung Intelligence Voice Services (com.samsung.android.intellivoiceservice) - Breaks Galaxy AI features (speech recognition, Live Translate, Interpreter)
• SystemUI or Core Services - Will brick your device

Keep for Bixby:

• com.samsung.android.bixby.agent
• com.samsung.android.bixby.wakeup
• com.samsung.android.visionintelligence (Bixby Vision)

Keep for Gemini/Google AI:

• com.google.android.apps.bard (Gemini)
• com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox (Google Search - required for Gemini)
• com.samsung.android.aicore (Samsung AI Core - pre-installed on S26 / OneUI 8.5, from Galaxy Store on S25)
• com.google.android.aicore (Google AICore - on-device Gemini Nano models)

Keep for DEX:

• com.samsung.android.mdx (Samsung DEX)
• com.samsung.android.honeyboard (Samsung Keyboard)

Keep on Foldables (Z Fold / Flip, OneUI 9):

• com.samsung.android.app.aodservice (Always On Display and the cover screen widgets)
• com.samsung.android.app.dressroom (Wallpaper and style, including the cover screen wallpaper)
• com.sec.android.app.launcher and com.android.systemui (taskbar, multi-window, Flex mode panel, cover screen UI)

OneUI 9 has no separate cover screen or Flex mode packages. See the KEEP section of 08-z-fold8.txt.

Usage

On-Device Methods (Recommended for Most Users)

Quick Start - Shizuku + Canta:

1. Install Shizuku (thedjchi fork on Android 16 / 17) and start it via Wireless debugging
2. Install Canta app
3. Copy a preset from canta-lists/ and import it from the clipboard (Presets > Import preset)
4. Apply the preset, review, and remove bloatware with the GUI
5. Reboot

Advantages: Visual interface, no computer needed, easier to use

Computer-Based Methods

Method 1: Individual Commands (Recommended for Beginners)

1. Connect your Galaxy device via USB
2. Open terminal/command prompt
3. Verify connection: adb devices
4. Copy individual commands from the script files
5. Paste and run each command one at a time

Example:

adb shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.facebook.katana

Method 2: Batch Commands (Advanced)

1. Connect your device
2. Copy the entire batch command from the script
3. Run all commands at once

Warning: Review batch commands carefully before executing!

Method 3: Using ADB AppControl (GUI Tool)

1. Download ADB AppControl from: https://adbappcontrol.com/
2. Connect your device
3. Import the provided debloat list
4. Select packages to remove/disable
5. Apply changes

Recommended Debloat Levels

Conservative (Recommended for Most Users)

Run: 01-safe-user-apps.txt + 02-bloatware-carriers.txt

Removes: Facebook, carrier apps, some Samsung duplicates Preserves: All Samsung features, Bixby, Gemini, DEX

Moderate

Conservative + 03-safe-system-apps.txt + Select items from 04-optional-removals.txt

Removes: Additional Samsung services, some Google apps May affect: Samsung Pay, AR features, some Samsung integrations

Aggressive (Advanced Users Only)

All categories

Removes: Most Samsung/Google apps Will break: Many Samsung features, integrations, possibly DEX

How to Restore Apps

Individual App Restore

adb shell cmd package install-existing <package_name>

Full Restore

Factory reset your device (Settings > General management > Reset)

OneUI 8 Specific Changes

OneUI 8 introduces new apps and features:

• Galaxy AI Integration: Enhanced with Gemini
• New Packages: Circle to Search, AI Core features
• Updated: Camera stickers, AR features, Samsung Pass

OneUI 9 Specific Changes

OneUI 9 (Android 17) launched on the Galaxy Z Fold 8, Fold 8 Ultra and Flip 8. What changed for debloating, from a Z Fold 8 (SM-F971U1):

• New Galaxy AI packages to keep: on-device language models (offline.languagemodel), AI Core vision models (vision.model), content credentials for AI edits (visual.cloudcore), and Samsung Intelligence Voice Services (intellivoiceservice)
• Now Brief lives in com.samsung.android.smartsuggestions. It is now listed as optional everywhere, including the S26 preset
• Not present on the Z Fold 8 (OneUI 9): bixby.service, bixby.voiceinput, bixbyvision.framework, AR Zone and AR Drawing. The older lists still name them for OneUI 8 devices; on OneUI 9 they report "not installed"
• Android 17 adds a system contacts picker (com.android.contactspicker). Keep it

Tips for Best Results

1. Update First: Fully update all apps before debloating
2. Backup Data: Backup important data before proceeding
3. Review Commands: Don't blindly copy/paste - know what you're removing
4. Start Small: Begin with safe categories, expand as needed
5. Test Features: Check critical features after each category
6. Keep Notes: Document what you removed in case you need to restore
