The Fall of the Observatory of the Unseen

The day the University of the Unseen lost its crown jewel. Built at the summit of the WeaveWatch Wale to study the Weave from as near to the sky as any structure had reached, the Observatory stood as proof that Threadbare's scholars could out-think the Void through patient observation alone.

Accounts of the Fall differ - some blame an experiment that looked too long and too directly into the Absurdity Abyss below; others say the Observatory was always doomed, built closer to the world's thinning edge than ambition should have allowed. What is certain is that the Observists who once worked there fled or were lost, and the observatory that watched the unseen became, under Null and the Obscurists, the Observatory of the Obscure. The University marks the Fall each year not with mourning alone, but with a renewed vow: to keep looking, however costly the last attempt proved to be.
