Welcome to the SPEC_A7 wiki!

The SPEC-A7 is versatile low cost White Rabbit node. It can operate in following scenarios:

  • stand alone unit enclosed in aluminium box with basic functionality (just PPS, 10MHz and trigger outputs) - low cost version
  • stand alone unit enclosed in aluminium box with extended functionality (additional 10MHz-6GHz RF output, Grand Master functionality)
  • stand alone unit enclosed in aluminium box with management interface (via RJ45 and SFP; embedded Linux)
  • as a network card with PTM support; SPEC-A7 works as standard Linux Network Interface Controller (NIC)
  • as a mezzanine for Sinara reference clock card (Wenzel_ref)

Module features:

  • dual SFP - WR node, WR Grand Master, WR switch mode
  • PPS, 10MHz/TRIG outputs in default configuration
  • PPS, 10MHz inputs in extended configuration
  • programmable 10MHz-6GHz RF output
  • PPS and TRIG outputs with low jitter option - FPGA output is re-synced to main VCXO and external delay line is used for fine tuning
  • Time of a Day (TOD) IN/OUT available using mmcx to SMA pigtails
  • Linux NIC with Precision Time Measurement (PTM) support over PCI Express
  • firmware compatible with CUTE-A7 (full pin-to-pin compatibility) - no NIC support
  • dedicated firmware written using Litex with NIC and PTM functionality
  • power supply - via PCI Express connector and DC Jack barrel connector - 6..12V DC
  • passive cooling
  • 64Mbit PSRAM
  • USB-C interface providing access to JTAG, serial console, I2C

Management mezzanine features:

  • Linux SOM (imx93) running services line VPN, routing between WR and external RJ45/SFP interfaces, SNMP
  • Management interfaces via RJ45 (10/100/1000) and SFP(100/1000)
  • remote board management and monitoring
