improve: Fewer templates for the API subscriptions - #676
The list of entities the panel subscribes to (home page chips, weather and temperatures, custom buttons, wake-up sensors and the temperature calibration reference) is now built in a single template. Distinct templates go from 1,013 to 1,003, widening the margin under Home Assistant's template cache of 1,024 entries, which reduces the load on Home Assistant, especially with Spook enabled. Nothing changes on the panel (improve: Build the API subscriptions list in a single template #675).
The Blueprint now assembles API subscriptions in one template, and a new script compares its rendered results with a reference Blueprint. The release workflow also synchronizes dev with the published release.
Changes: API Subscription Consolidation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Build the combined subscriptions list nspanel_easy_blueprint.yaml
The Blueprint combines chips, wake-up sensors, weather and temperature entities, calibration subscriptions, and home custom buttons in one template. The combined list assigns pages to the entries.
The new script renders reference and candidate Blueprints across 4,000 seeded cases. It reports up to 20 differences and exits with an error when results differ or required Blueprint elements are missing.
Release Branch Synchronization
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Synchronize dev with the release .github/workflows/versioning.yml
After a release succeeds, the workflow creates dev if it does not exist, leaves it unchanged if it contains the release SHA, fast-forwards when possible, or merges the release into diverged dev. Errors, conflicts, and rejected pushes fail the job.
Issue 657 — The subscription consolidation reduces the number of distinct templates, matching the issue’s objective to address Blueprint expansion and template-cache pressure.
Issue 636 — The subscription consolidation reduces the number of distinct templates, matching the issue’s objective to address template-cache pressure associated with repeated Blueprint pushes.

Explanation
The title "improve: Fewer templates for the API subscriptions" matches the main change. The objectives say the PR builds the API subscriptions list in a single template, which reduces the template count from 1,013 to 1,003. The summary confirms the single combined api_subscriptions template in nspanel_easy_blueprint.yaml. The title does not mention the other changes, which are the new equivalence test script and the new sync-dev workflow job. The title is specific to the primary change and omits those secondary additions, which is acceptable.

This PR reduces Home Assistant template-cache pressure by replacing multiple API subscription templates with one while retaining output behavior, adds a seeded reference-vs-candidate equivalence test for the refactoring, and updates release automation to safely synchronize dev with released main commits.

Consolidate API subscription construction into one rendered template while preserving the existing subscription output and ordering.
Move chips, weather and temperature, calibration, custom-button, and wake-up subscription assembly into the single api_subscriptions template.
Reduce distinct templates by ten, from 1,013 to 1,003.
nspanel_easy_blueprint.yaml
Add a deterministic equivalence harness to detect behavioral changes in API subscription generation.
Load and render the API Subscriptions variables from a reference and candidate Blueprint.
Exercise 4,000 seeded combinations of inputs and mocked Home Assistant states, including edge cases for entities, visibility, calibration, wake-up sensors, chips, and buttons.
Report subscription differences and rendering errors, failing when any output differs.
.github/scripts/test_api_subscriptions.py
Automatically synchronize the development branch with each released main revision.
Expose the released commit SHA from the release job.
Create dev when absent, otherwise no-op, fast-forward, or merge the released commit based on ancestry.
Use protected plain pushes and fail on query, merge-conflict, or concurrent-update errors without blocking Discord notification.

Hey - I've reviewed your changes and they look great!
Sourcery assessment
Needs a human reviewer. A template regression could change which entities the panel subscribes to, and the release workflow can also push a fast-forward or merge commit to dev. Reverting the code stops future changes but does not undo a commit already pushed to dev; that branch change is bounded and can be repaired with Git.

- Around line 18-19: Update the REFERENCE_BLUEPRINT example in the subscription
test script to use a fixed revision known to predate the change, so the
reference cannot silently match the candidate revision. Alternatively, instruct
users to provide a verified pre-change blueprint file; do not use origin/dev as
the reference source.
