Amp Rack now supports MIDI 😎
- USB MIDI is supported on all devices
- Bluetooth (BLE) devices are natively supported on Android 13 and above. However, it is still possible to use Bluetooth MIDI controllers on older devices (see below)
- Virtual (inter-app) MIDI is supported on all devices.
Simply long press on any plugin control label to attach it to an MIDI Control Change message. You can also add MIDI controls to the following UI controls:
- Audio Engine On / Off button
- Record Audio button
- Patch up / Patch down buttons (on the mixer)
USB MIDI is supported on all devices. Just plug in the MIDI controllers via USB before launching Amp Rack. Amp Rack will display this icon indicating that USB MIDI is connected:
Tap on the overflow icon (three dots) to open the menu, then select Connect Bluetooth MIDI. The app will list Bluetooth devices nearby. Select your MIDI controller. The app will display this icon indicating that Bluetooth MIDI is connected:
Note:
- The app remembers the last connected Bluetooth device. Simply turn on your Bluetooth controller before launching the app and it will connect automatically to your controller.
- Because of the way Bluetooth MIDI is currently implemented, the app will show the Bluetooth icon after launch even if the last known Bluetooth device was not found. It auto connects if it is found, but still shows the icon if it isn't. The reason for this is because the app doesn't scan for available Bluetooth devices when it is launched. You can always manually connect to any Bluetooth device by going to overflow menu ➡️ Connect Bluetooth MIDI
Made with so, so much ❤️
