Complete set of audio recordings of International Chopin Piano Competition

2015 edition is XVII Take place every 5 years, previous 1927, II: 1932, III: 1937, IV: 1949, V: 1955, VI: 1960, VII: 1965

This year organisers published oficially all recordings on internet making globally available.

The competition is consisting of 4 rounds: preliminary, R1, R2, R3, Finals.

Overview

Purpose:

• musicological studies
• performance studies
• pitch tracking of audio signal (aka multi-pitch, multi F0)
• audio to score/midi alignement

Deliverables:

• audio signal with recordings of each individual piece
• links to publicly published material on YouTube Chopin Institute channel
• description and images of players publicly published
• scripts to repeat the data aquisition, cleaning, segmentation and analysis process
• annotations

R1 - first recital

3-7 October 2015 – first stage 81 participants

Wśród uczestników eliminacji najliczniejszą grupę stanowić będą pianiści z Dalekiego Wschodu: 26 osób z Chin, 25 z Japonii oraz 24 z Korei Południowej.

Czwartą co do liczebności grupą będą Polacy – 21 osób. Pozostali reprezentanci pochodzą z Rosji i Stanów Zjednoczonych (po 11 osób), Wielkiej Brytanii (5 osób) i Włoch (4 osoby), Francji (6 osób), Kanady i Ukrainy (po 4 osoby), Czech i Tajwanu (po 2 osoby) a także z Austrii, Białorusi, Chorwacji, Grecji, Holandii, Indonezji, Łotwy, Mongolii, Niemiec, Rumunii, Singapuru, Szwajcarii, Szwecji, Uzbekistanu i Węgier (po 1 osobie).

4 pieces per each participant = 2 etudies + 1 nocturne + 1 Ballade or Scherzo

R2 - second recital

9-12 October 2015 – second stage 40 participants 4 pieces = 1 Ballade or Scherzo + 1 Waltze + 1 Polonaise + 1 any Performing time in the second stage: 30–40 minutes.

R3 - third recital

14-16 October 2015 – third stage 20 participants 4 pieces Performing time in the third stage: 50–60 minutes.
