What you are seeing is actually by design, acting as a bit of a safety mechanism.

When a chore's due date is manually changed, the system assumes the parameters of the task have shifted, so it resets any existing claims or approvals. The alternative—keeping a chore marked as 'approved' even after its schedule was fundamentally altered—could lead to some really confusing states on the dashboard.

That said, I'd love to understand your specific workflow! What was the scenario you ran into where you needed to change the date but keep the claim/approval intact? If I know how you're using it, we might be able to figure out a better way to handle it.

the problem is that if something has a due date, then you get a warning that you still have to do something.

but a different user has already done it.

so for the other user it cleanly says that i have done everything

so to solve this i want to automatically remove the due date when it gets claimed.
(i do it at claimed so that as soon as somebody claimes it, it looks like it is done, i then use a different automation so that if something gets rejected it will get a due date of now + 1hour)

Tell me more. What do you mean when a different user has done it? What is the completion criteria you are using and what are you expecting to happen?

Take a close look in the completion criteria, I think you might be trying to manually do something that is already built in to some thing like "Shared First"?

so the main problem is that i set due dates via automations.
if the washing machine is done then somebody needs to empty it.

i have set the empty out washingmachine to first shared first place.
so as soon as somebody finishes it, it is done.

BUT
the due date never gets cleared.

so the notice that other users still hade an open task for that day was gone after a few minutes (i think this is because it updates every 5 minutes) so that is fine

but the due date isn't being cleared. so the next morning i have an overdue task since the task with due date yesterday isn't finished yet in this new cycle.

so maybe there should be some setting that just clears the due date when it is completed and a new cycle starts.
