Long-Term Vision

The BioArtBot platform was originally conceived as a tool for making bio-art, and learning from that experience. However, the underlying infrastructure could be used to design and execute any well-defined lab protocol.

The vision is to adapt the backbone of BioArtBot to also support the design and sharing of experiments using such protocols. An experimental design could then be built in the software and sent as a job request to a central databank. The job could then be downloaded and executed by any lab with excess robot time.

With this approach, BioArtBot is supplying collaboration infrastructure to labs, which each act as nodes in what is effectively a completely distributed cloud lab.
