Hanuman Chalisa API

Free, public REST API for the holy verses of Hanuman Chalisa. The dataset includes the original Devanagari text and English transliteration, verse translations in several languages, and extensive metadata.

Perfect for yoga and meditation apps, Sanskrit/Hindi studying tools, research projects, cultural programs.

Overview

This API provides structured access to Hanuman Chalisa data.
Each verse includes:

  • The original text (Devanagari)
  • English transliteration
  • Translations (English + Hindi; more languages planned)
  • Summary, meter, and tags

Ideal for:

  • Spiritual apps
  • Sanskrit/Hindi learning tools
  • Cultural projects

API Endpoints

GET /api/verses Fetch all verses
GET /api/verses/:number Fetch a specific verse
GET /api/random Fetch a random verse

Field Descriptions

Field Type Description
id Integer The sequential number of the verse, starting at 1 for the first verse and incrementing up to 43.
verse String The original verse in Devanagari script.
transliteration String English transliteration of the verse (IAST standard).
translations Array Contains translation objects (language, text).
summary String Brief explanation of the verse.
meter String Poetic meter of the verse. Possible values: Doha, Chaupai, Sankatmochan, Aarti.
tags Array Keywords for categorization.
