1. "C Programming Absolute Beginner's Guide" by Greg Perry. This is a very gentle, handholding introduction that covers all the basics. Good for someone with no programming experience.

2. "C Programming: A Modern Approach" by K.N. King. A bit more rigorous but still accessible introduction, with good examples and exercises. Focuses on C99 standard.

3. "Head First C" by David Griffiths and Dawn Griffiths. Uses a visual, tutorial-based approach to learning C. Good for beginners who prefer a more visual learning style.

4. "C Programming for Beginners" by Tim Hall. A concise, straightforward introduction to C, good for total beginners. Covers C11 standard.
