Modern 8-bit Microcomputer
X65 is an 8-bit microcomputer for the modern era. It uses best of breed components and strives to maintain the 8-bit feeling while being usable for daily basis computing activities.
- CPU: WDC 65C816, ~6MHz
- RAM: 16MB PSRAM
- Video: CGIA, DVI-D 480p, 384×240px
(C64/A800 on steroids) - Sound: Yamaha SD-1 YMF825 (OPL3+) + 2× PWM,
2× RCA with ROHM BD34602FS-M mixer - Input/Output:
- Ports:
- 6× USB port + 2× internal USB pins
- 2× DE-9 Joystick port / GPIO using TI TCA6416A
- Expansion: CPU bus, 4× IO_EN, 4× IRQ, Audio-In (mixed), I²C
- Interrupt Controller: MCP23008
The hardware is based on Picocomputer 6502 and Neo6502 designs providing implementation of non-existing chips and glue to modern digital interfaces.
Because we need "Understandable Computers" to make computers understandable.
It's like our entire technology subculture looked up and said "HOLY CRAP WE ARE DROWNING IN COMPLEXITY!"
