Cobalt User Guide
See the instructions here
When the game reaches the title screen, check the lower right hand corner. It should say Cobalt and the version number. If you don't see this, it means Cobalt was not installed properly.
There are two ways to install a Cobalt mod.
- After downloading the mod, extract the folder in the zip file and place it in
engage/mods
. - If the zip is formatted for Cobalt, it can just be put in
engage/mods
.
Warning
The Skill XML Limit Expansion patch and the 58 Unit Expansion Code Patch are not Cobalt mods. Refer to their own instructions for installation.
Usually, the mod author will include a note if a mod is meant for Cobalt.
A Cobalt mod is a folder which can contain a Data
folder and/or a patches
folder. Cobalt will then read from these folders to load the mod.
If the mod is for Fire Emblem Engage 2.0.0, and the mod folder contains a romfs
folder, you may be able to convert it into a Cobalt mod with this tool.
Warning
Code mods, sometimes known as exefs
mods, cannot be converted into Cobalt mods as Cobalt doesn't know what to do with them.
You can install as many as you want. Cobalt will do its best to merge all the mods for you automatically.
If you put a period .
at the start the name of the mod's folder or zip, Cobalt will not load that mod.
First, try removing the latest mods that you installed. If you installed many, try removing them all and adding them back one-by-one until the game no longer crashes.
If this doesn't work, try reaching out to the mod author.
It's possible that a new Cobalt feature is causing some instability with your set of mods. Check the mod's webpage and see if the author is aware of any issues.
You can downgrade your Cobalt version to your previous version to continue playing until the issue is fixed.
