The main use case of `cs2cs` in modern PROJ is to use EPSG-codes, not legacy PROJ-strings and the `+to` parameter. A few examples using that pattern has been replaced by modern examples. On the `cs2cs` man-page the examples using EPSG-codes has been moved to the top of the page, in order to emphasize that pattern as best practice.

A very minimal attempt at removing bad usage patterns from the docs. In 2026 there's no need to advertise old practice - we've got something that's much better today.
Ideally the proj-string examples in the cs2cs docs should get a revamp as well. I might get to that later.
