Louis Deconinck

Software engineer & data-platform builder · Belgium

I build data-intensive products, developer tooling, and automation. I’m a co-founder of Signumi, where I work on company data, entity resolution, search, APIs, and developer infrastructure.

My background spans software and data engineering, finance, and applied research. I enjoy turning well-scoped problems into small, testable changes that are easy for maintainers to review.

Open source

I maintain HarnessFacts, an Apache-2.0 project for reproducible, evidence-backed compatibility tests across coding agents, skills, MCP, Git, and CI.

I also contribute upstream fixes, tests, documentation, and type-safety improvements across established open-source projects. Current contributions span:

  • Python ecosystem: SciPy, pip, mypy, pytest, packaging, urllib3, IPython, and Pylint
  • Developer & data tooling: Pyright, Ruff, Kestra, Backstage, Dagu, and Argo CD Image Updater
  • Observability & systems: OpenTelemetry, Tailscale, Talos, and Grafana Scenes
  • Security & file tooling: Trail of Bits PolyFile

Contribution history: external pull requests · merged external pull requests

I try to keep contributions focused: reproduce the issue, make the smallest useful change, add regression coverage where appropriate, run the project’s validation, and follow each repository’s contribution and AI-disclosure policies.

What I work on

  • Data platforms, entity resolution, search, and large-scale data processing
  • Python, TypeScript, Rust, Go, SQL, and modern web systems
  • APIs, backend infrastructure, developer tooling, and automation
  • Observability, reliability, testing, and maintainable software

Selected work

  • HarnessFacts — reproducible compatibility tests for coding agents and their surrounding tooling
  • Signumi — company intelligence and data infrastructure for European private markets
  • cancer-data — public data project
  • cancer-dashboard — public data-visualization project

I’m especially interested in useful open-source issues where a focused fix, stronger test coverage, or clearer documentation can remove friction for other developers.
