Repository for the Human Disease Ontology (DO)

With the July 2026 release, the changes mentioned below are now live!!! Please let us know if you experience any issues.
The Disease Ontology will be upgrading the software used to create production files (planned implementation in July 2026). This will affect the data representation of both OBO (possible breaking changes!!!) and obographs JSON production files.
A complete test release, corresponding to v2026-04-30, with all files using the new data representations is available on the

The primary release file, doid.owl, is available in the src/ontology/releases directory of this GitHub repository. We strongly recommend downloading this file using its IRI, http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/doid.owl, particularly where stable access to the latest version is desired.

DO curation and production moved to OWL, git, and GitHub in November 2015. DO's SVN repository on Sourceforge.net has been retired but is still available for historical reference.
