+AirVLC makes it possible to set one of the AirPlay speakers on the network as the default output, without going through the System Preferences.

+Just select the speaker you want to stream to. If it's an Apple TV, make sure you check the box that says 'Apple TV'. The Apple TV has a much lower delay than the AirPort Express.
+
+If you have a multiple AirPlay speaker setup. You might want to have a look at Porthole (also made by Danger Cove) or Airfoil. They allow multiple AirPlay speakers to play in sync. Making your clips even more immersive.
+
+## macOS 10.7 or 10.6
+
+AirPlay for apps besides iTunes isn't supported by default in OS X Snow Leopard & Lion. Luckily there are several great apps that will help you to add AirPlay. [Download Porthole (made by me!)](https://www.dangercove.com/porthole) or Airfoil and you're set.
+
+For this example I'll use Porthole. After installing it, there's an icon in you menu bar. Click it to see all local AirPlay speakers and check the ones you want to stream to.

+Unfortunately, I'm not aware of a workaround or fix for this issue. My recommendation is to not update to the latest version, and disable auto-updates on the Apple TV.
+
+There are guides on the internet that describe ways to downgrade the Apple TV's firmware. This will restore the option to stream to it, but the process isn't trivial and unsupported by Apple. I can't recommend it.
+
+If Porthole fails to connect to your Apple TV 4 and it displays the following notice: "This AirPlay connection requires iOS 7.1 or later; OS X 10.10 or later; or iTunes 11.2 or later." you'll need to disable Device Verification on your Apple TV.
+
+Here's how that works:
+
+1. Go to Settings > AirPlay.
+1. Disable Device Verification.
+
+Porthole should now work as expected.

+Stil not working? Does the song happen to have multiple artists? Spotify only returns the main artist, so if the artist you despise is the secondary artist on this song, it might slip through. I'm looking at ways around this.
