"Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - Theodore Roosevelt
The Andelan Way of Open Source is how we create and contribute to world-class open source projects. It is the standard we hold ourselves to as world-class developers, project managers, community members, and leaders. We are compiling and releasing this guide so that anyone with the proper motivation can benefit from and improve on our collective wisdom.
The Andelan Way of Open Source exists to help any motivated individuals build valuable open source projects using the knowledge and experience that Andela has to offer.
ACSPs are projects that allow community members to create and contribute to open source projects that are facilitated by Andela, and follow the Andela Way. ACSPs may be standalone projects or dedicated contributions to existing projects. This guide will provide examples, templates, and instructions on all of the processes involved in successful project creation so that any community member can start their own team. Once a team has followed our team lead guideline, Andela will assign a Mentor to that project to meet regularly with the team lead and help them overcome any obstacles, as well as celebrate any victories.
We know you'll find this community as rewarding as we have. We care about your progress. If you're having any trouble following this wiki or are caught by any blockers, send an email to [email protected] directly and he'll help fix the issue for you and future community members.
Our best practices that have helped us build successful projects.
If you're excited about open source, but you don't think ACSPs are for you, here are some general tips for contributing to existing open source projects.
