While reading the README I found that the GitHub Pages link is outdated.

I'm proposing this action to keep the gh-pages branch up to date

A demo for this can be seen with my fork at https://agustinramirodiaz.github.io/eleventy-base-blog/

This might require some configuration in the repo's settings->actions->Workflow permissions:

  • give GITHUB_TOKEN read and write permissions

I don’t think we want GitHub Actions to be enabled by default for everyone that wants to use this repo! Is there a way to exclude files from forks of this template repo?

@zachleat there doesn't seem to be a way to exclude files :(

There an alternative: deploy conditionally with something like

jobs:
  my_job:
    if: github.repository == 'ORIGINAL_OWNER/REPO_NAME'
    runs-on: ubuntu-latest
    steps:
      - run: echo "This runs only in the original repo"
