Currently, you can view albums, open a picture, then all you can do is zoom until you close it using the back button and then open another picture. It would be great if you could just swipe left/right for next/previous picture in the folder when looking at individual pictures. For performance and compatibility, I'd keep it image file only, so jp(e)g, png, webp and gif, skipping videos, documents, audio and so on. Though videos depends on the impact it has on performance.

Yes, for files on my phone storage I already do, but that's not an option for pictures on a Samba/smb share or any kind of storage which requires the network capabilities of Material Files.
