Windows: Window starting bigger than screen

Summary

I have a small screen and almost everytime it launches, it launches bigger than my screen and covers parts like titlebar and footer.

Description

Steps to trigger the problem:

1. Install the Windows release
2. Use a small screen(1280x768)
3. Open Zed.

Expected Behavior:
Open with a normal window size, like in beta.

Actual Behavior
The titlebar overflow to outside the Windows screen barrier and it's unaccessible unless i resize it.

Zed Version and System Specs

Zed: v0.209.5 (Zed)
OS: Windows 10.0.26200
Memory: 15.9 GiB
Architecture: x86_64
GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000 || Intel Corporation || 10.18.10.4252

Not sure if I should create a separate issue since it's probably the same origin issue, but Zed does not remember it's last size/location on the screen, which is quite frustrating. It always reverts to the same poor fixed size. I know some IDEs remember per workspace per user account, but I'd honestly be fine if if "new window" or a restart would just mirror the last size+position used.

NB: If you do clamp the position/size to the screen, remember lots of us use two monitors so the math there could be tricky. Perhaps just clamp x/y to >0 instead of the width/height? It's easy to fix windows that are too big with [ ] or f11.

i also have this issue. its not big, but its just drifted out of screen.

@lilith that is expected behavior IF you don't have a project open today, unfortunately.

@luiggircardoso does this happen if you had a project open, closed and reopened Zed? We should persist your last session's screen size if a project is open.

I'm checking on another issue related to this but I thought we had fixed it.

Yes, this happens if I open and close one of multiple windows AND if I fully restart it. I'm using the latest Windows beta.

Okay, we haven't resolved the restore on startup issue, so this is what is going on here.

I'm not sure we can fix the issue of initially starting Zed in a window bigger than the screen. But once you've opened a project, Zed will always restore your last session (unless you turn it off) and that includes your screensize.

This is not the case for me, it happened after installing it in my Windows machine, it worked fine in Linux, but for some reason a lot of the UI was covered and simply unreachable in my screen. They were only set right after i resized it and then maximized it. All of this without anything open. So technically this issue is not applying, but thanks for the troubleshooting tips!

I have the same problem, despite the resolution of my screen being 1920x1080: the very first time I launch Zed after installation, the title bar and the left edge are out of the visible screen, which makes it impossible for me to grab the window and move or resize it.

Please notice that this has nothing to do with restoring the previous view on startup, since for the first run of Zed there cannot be any previous view.

(On Windows 10 with all the latest updates.)
