SIGKILL in random moments #3535
Comments
Sigkill is usually the system deciding to kill us. The reason why some systems are facing this issue is still unknown. So far I have been unable to reproduce this problem on my computer. |
What CPU do you have? On my old laptop the CPU was not enough to process some heavy effects and sometimes the app was killed by the system. |
13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1335U
Is there any way to get more informative logs? I also tested the newest version from Flatpak but it has the same problem. |
Unfortunately I do not know. The most annoying thing about these sigkills is that the system does not seem to print anywhere the reasons why it is killing the process. |

I have the same issue:
To fix the crackling and stutter, I need to restart
It happens a lot when stressing the CPU (e.g. launching/closing apps + browsing, video, etc.). |
@francoism90 Is restarting |
@QkiZMR Unfortunately no, only for a few seconds/minutes. I don't know what's causing it, it looks like it's running on low priority or allows to interrupt. |
I have the same issue, Kubuntu 24.04, EasyEffects 7.1.6, i7 12700, 64G ram + 32G swap. |
@pavelkvkv I think it's an Pipewire bug, because I have the same with and without Easyeffects. I think your command keeps Pipewire alive. |

What package are you using?
Other (specify below)
Distribution
Ubuntu 24.10
Describe the bug
Easyeffects ends with SIGKILL at random moments, typically after stopping audio, like at the end of a YouTube movie or paused music. I'm using three effects in the output chain: equalizer, bass enhancer, and volume meter.
Expected Behavior
I want to work with Easyeffects without any crashes and unexpected exits.

Additional Information
Problems with Easyeffects start after the update to Ubuntu 24.10. Earlier it was working fine.
