I am not sure about this monitor, but if the hardware brightness control range is wrong and the range is not reported by the display properly during DDC configuration, you can override the max value for the display under DDC settings. If the display does not remember DDC settings on wake, you can configure the app to reapply the last brightness. (Note: both issues point to severe issues with the display's firmware, but both can be accommodated with the app) Let me know if you can't find the right settings under the display's app Settings pane. |

Hardware: Samsung Odyssey G95NC on Mac Mini M4, connected directly via onboard HDMI or via CalDigit TS4 dock DisplayPort. Display information report attached.
BetterDisplay Version 4.1.5 Build 47757 (also observed in 4.1.3)
This display expresses brightness as a range from 0-50. BetterDisplay claims to present Brightness (hardware) as a percentage 0-100. However, adjusting Brightness (hardware) actually tries to set brightness of the display to a value of 100, not 100%. Effectively, the Brightness (hardware) setting maxes out the display's brightness at 50, not 100.
As seen in the attached photo, this breaks the OSD. Yes, the OSD shouldn't allow this regardless. It's purely cosmetic though.
I would expect Brightness (hardware) value to either be expressed as a percentage and increment the OSD brightness value by one for every two percent increase, or for it to express the monitor's absolute value for brightness, and cap at 50.
Additionally, when waking the system up from sleep, all the brightness values get reset to max values - on this display, it's like looking into the sun until I set the values again. That's possibly a setting I'm missing, though.
