Hello,
I have a question regarding the development vision for llxprt in relation to the original Gemini project, and I'd appreciate any insight you could share.
I'm curious to know if, at a certain point, llxprt's development path intentionally diverged from Gemini's. Is the plan to continue incorporating ongoing improvements and bug fixes from the Gemini codebase, or is llxprt on track to become a completely distinct tool?
My question stems from the user perspective that it would be wonderful if llxprt could continue to inherit the core enhancements from Gemini, while layering its own unique optimizations and features on top.
Please note this is purely out of curiosity to better understand your vision for what llxprt is today and where it's headed in comparison to its origins with Gemini.
Thank you for your time and for this great tool.
LLxprt has substantially diverged architecturally from GeminiCLI in these ways:
We will continue to diverge in these ways:
We will continue to cherrypick from upstream

What you can do:
No one can say we don't listen - most issues are addressed in process. Tell us what features from gemini-cli you like and wish we had. Heck tell us what feature from OpenCode or Claude Code you want. You can help drive the roadmap!
