As of v1.67.0, the license changed from MIT to FSL-1.1-MIT.
What this means:
For any regular company using Turbo EA: no impact. Still free, source still available, and every release automatically converts to full MIT two years after it ships.
For anyone wanting to offer Turbo EA (or a fork of it), as a hosting or resale service: that is no longer permitted from v1.67.0 onward. If you're interested in a commercial partnership, reach out here: https://www.turbo-ea.org/consulting
What's really new in 2.0
Turbo EA becomes extensible. I will provide optional extensions you can install and subscribe to in two ways:
The subscription license covers three things: the right to use the extension (IP), keeping it compatible as the core evolves so a core change never breaks it, and incident support for the extension itself, meaning I fix it when something goes wrong. It does not include functional changes or new features for the extension, which I quote separately.
What doesn't change
Core features keep improving where it makes sense (essentials, general improvements, market trends, technology and framework evolutions).
What is free today remains free and source available.
Security patches, dependency upgrades, and bug fixes: always there, free, and timely. Sponsorship remains very welcome to help me keep this up.
Ideas are still more than welcome. We're a small community and I value every single one.
Why an extension store
First, I genuinely believe the free core is more than enough to run an EA function in an SME.
But I've spent hundreds of hours on this, and companies have approached me for help, ideas, and lightweight consulting. The store fits that model: a solid free product, with paid customization and advanced features for those who need them.
Please let me know if any concerns or questions
