Only load file on darwin

So I followed the instructions on here Handle configuration files which are externally modified, and I successfully got it to work for my karabiner.json.
But How do I have it so it only symlinks this file on Mac systems?
If I wrap the file in

{{ if eq .chezmoi.os "darwin" }}
{{ end }}

it will still create an empty file at the location, which I don't want it to do.

You need to make sure the file is empty.

{{ end -}}
