Rust Diesel Support

Diesel is a Safe, Extensible ORM and Query Builder for Rust. It would be great if libsql supports this amazing open-source ORM.

Given the backwards compatibility of libsql with sqlite this should not be hard, but the connection server needs to be integrated into Diesel.
It would be also great if the embedded replicas could be supported through Diesel as well.

I have been exploring using Turso and this is one of the things currently holding me back. I am interested in this as well.

what do turso devs think about this? is there currently any existing libsql compatible rust orms or is the philosophy that libsql users should just do manual sql queries because rust people are smart?

It should (im guessing but from my understanding) work with seaorm once it works with sqlx

There is also ongoing discussion about adding Turso support to Diesel ORM. The current consensus is that the proper approach is to implement a custom connection type for Diesel.

The MikroORM supports LibSQL from TypeScript. The adapter code is not too complex. Not sure why it's been so hard on the Rust side.
