Feature Request: Translation Support (i18n)

I'd like to contribute translations into Russian (~258 million speakers) and Ukrainian (~45 million speakers).

I noticed that app/src/main/res/values/strings.xml already exists with a few strings.

Once the strings are finalized, I'd be happy to submit a PR with complete translations for both languages.

If it would be helpful, platforms like Weblate.org (open source, GPL‑3.0, free for open‑source projects) or Crowdin (also free for OSS) are popular options for managing translations, though you may already have a preferred workflow.

If the quality of the changes made by @Muxa1L are acceptable to the developers, I’ll talk to him so that he can submit the pull request again.

As I mentioned, I don’t have enough expertise to evaluate it myself.

@torlando-tech Thank you for translating into different languages. Let me even help you out a little. Ukrainian and Belarusian are branches of the Russian language So for the first while you don't have to worry about it, Ukrainians and Belarusians will be able to read Russian without any problems, they understand it all.

By the way, I'll probably wish you luck when you do the Chinese language course. I think you'll have fun with the hieroglyphs there.

@serialrf433, nope. I'm still in progress. There are just a lot of hard-coded strings. So the process, even using Copilot is very long

Oh, @mainLOL22 I am not fluent enough in any other language to do good translation. I will just make sure that eventually the strings all get moved to strings.xml so that the community can provide translations.

I did spend 6 months learning Mandarin about ten years ago. Was a fun time. Didn't stick with it and have forgotten almost everything now sadly.

At least - it passes tests. Also tried some resulting apk's. They are working (in my opinion) correctly.

Great. Then lets translate it to Ukrainian instead of Russian or Belarusian. Putin and Lukashenko can then use Columba in Ukrainian language when they like to have peace and freedom respecting AOSP compatible Software 👍
