restore current working directory not working

I am running OSX Mavericks. When I resurrect, my current working directories are lost. What information can I give you to help troubleshoot the issue?

I think the code for saving sessions is located in the save_command_strategies folder. My computer doesn't have the gdb command, so it's probably not using that strategy. Also, it seems that it tries to save the entire process (which includes the CWD i guess). This makes sense, since when I restore, it does not restore any processes whatsoever. The only thing it restores is my windows by name. But every window is blank.

I think the relevant code for restoring sessions is located in strategies/vim_session.sh.

Same here for Windows Subsystem for Linux. Saves session fine but restores all panes/windows to use the root folder as current working directory.

@MareoRaft so I hear you talking about 2 problems:

• The first one (in the first post) is that working directories are lost. Do you still get this one?
• The second issue is restoring processes that you're talking about 2 posts above. What programs are not restored for you? vim? Or something else? Your .tmux.conf and ~/.tmux/resurrect/last files would help troubleshooting this.

Guys, this plugin was never tested on WSL. I'd love to get it working there, but currently don't have access to a windows machine

• First problem: I still get the same problem (but i'm still running the old version). I can update to newest version of your code this weekend to test that. If you have any advice/guide for how to update, let me know.

• Second issue: Nothing is restored for me whatsoever, with the exception of the session names and tab names per session. If I add the line

  set -g @resurrect-capture-pane-contents 'on'

to my config, then it saves and restores man and vim sessions (and probably everything else it should). But when restored, they are also closed, so that I have to relaunch them if I want to actually interact with them. Example:

1. open tmux tab
2. run man cd
3. switch to a different tmux tab
4. run your save-session thing with Ctrl-s
5. run tmux kill-server
6. run tmux
7. run your restore-session thing with Ctrl-r
8. return to original tab
9. see

Observe that the vim session is ended and I would need to type vim file again to reopen it. This also has the annoying side-effect that vim asks me to Recover the file. Moreover, the prompt "Matthews-MacBook-Air-2%" that you see is not the typical zsh prompt I use. It may be manually launching zsh in some way so that I lose my PS1 configuration.

Also in this case, it seems that tmux does restore my CWD, so the only major issue is the PS1, since my typical PS1 gives me some very useful information.

My .tmux.conf file is:

Ok, I'm a bit confused is your CWD restored or not? In any case I have no specific things to suggest for this one as it should work. Please try updating to latest OSX, latest tmux etc.

Got it. I can confirm I found and fixed an issue related to this a couple days ago. The symptoms were the same. This is the commit that fixes it: 5722856
Please try updating this plugin to the latest version and see if things work for you now.

To clarify, in the "Second issue" above, I first briefly describe the behavior without set -g @resurrect-capture-pane-contents 'on' and then I spend the rest of the post describing the behavior with set -g @resurrect-capture-pane-contents 'on' in my config file.

I have now updated to latest tmux (2.5). But I will not be updating my OS. I have verified that everything behaves the same as it did before the update (perhaps with some slight improvements not relevant to my issue).

So things are working okay, as described above, but there is room for improvement. Is everything I described expected behavior? Thank you!

No @resurrect-capture-pane-contents option is NOT linked to restoring pane paths in ANY way. I'm glad the CWD is restored for you now tho.

Did you update this plugin to the latest version? There was a fix recently that fixed restoring processes running inside tmux.

I have now installed tpm and used it to update resurrect.

It seems that a line in my .zprofile was interfering with restoring pane paths:

### This interferes w/ tmux restore working direction, so i'm no longer using this.  Besides,  with tmux, i no longer need this.

This must have somehow caused restoring paths to fail without @resurrect-capture-pane-contents and yet succeed with @resurrect-capture-pane-contents.

Everything works great now, with the exception of the PS1 prompt not displaying correctly when using @resurrect-capture-pane-contents. Shall I open a new issue for that?

I'm also having this problem under Bash for Windows (WSL), is there any fix that applies to this version?
