This issue occurs when orthographic camera is used and logarithmic depth buffer is enabled.
In the Atmosphere/Basic story, which uses logarithmic depth buffer, enabling the orthographic camera causes “deferred” and “forward” modes to differ significantly, seemingly due to incorrect sun irradiance. Also, sun irradiance is visible even from below the horizon.
