My GtS RSS feed does not show any of my uploaded images in my feed readers of choice (Feedbin.com and NetNewsWire). It seems that Mastodon uses media elements in RSS feeds, whereas GtS is using enclosure elements.
Describe the solution you'd like.
I'd like the images I include in my toots to be visible in my RSS feed.
Describe alternatives you've considered.
I asked Feedbin to look into this for me. Their response was:
I'll look into it. Feedbin supports images in tags for Mastodon feeds, but it looks like these feeds are different from Mastodon, so Feedbin doesn't know what to do with it.
In general <enclosure type="image/*" …> is not so popular, because it should just be included (and is often duplicated) in the <content>.
In the short term, if GoToSocial can produce a feed that looks like Mastodon, then Feedbin will treat it as a short post, with proper formatting.
I'd also like to note that the RSS feeds generated by GoToSocial only provide a maximum of one image URL per post while Mastodon RSS feeds provide URLs for multiple images per post.
